Fairlight shortcut (Shift+7) does not work

PostTue Aug 09, 2022 8:41 pm

Hi all,

i noticed that the only PAGE shortcut that does not work is the one for Fairlight (SHIFT+7). Anybody else experience the same problem? I am on a Macbook Pro Max and Davinci 18 if it makes any difference.

Cheers!

Shift+7 works fine for me with the DaVinvci Resolve keyboard-mapping [DaVinci 18.0.1 Build 3, Windows 19044.1826]. However, in my personal Keyboard Customization I've mapped the Fairlight page to F4 ...

Shift-7 works on my M1 Pro MBP. Are you using the default Resolve Keyboard Customization mappings?

I apologise for the late reply, somewthing not working with my email notification settings, they haphazardly arrive to my inbox (haven't for this topic).

Nope, Shift+7 not working, neither in Davinci default keyboard mapping, nor in my customised preset. When I press the Shift+7 the playhead moves to end of the currenlty selected clip instead of switching the interface page? Very weird.

I am also having this issue on an M1 MBA.

I have tried re-mapping the key, that works.
I mapped Shift+7 to the Color page, and that also worked (so I will just swap them round for the mean time which isn't a problem) but I am a little puzzled.

Running version 18.1.2.

This claim is valid, and i traced it down to found out it's an international keyboard issue (on Mac at least). This shift + 3 and shift + 7 shortcuts does not work on Hungarian keyboard layout, and i guess there will be others too.

As soon as you switch to US, British, Italian, German keyboard layouts all of a sudden these shortcuts will do their thing. Submitted this to Blackmagic support just now.

I've had(!) the exact same issue and came across this thread.

German QWERTZ keyboard layout. All Shift 1...9 combinations would do their job when using Keyboard Customization, except Shift 7 which was never opening the Fairlight page. But Shift 7 always worked as expected with default Davinci layout enabled.

Since I had only edited a few keys, it was not too hard to find the culprit:
Among the customized keys was "num+/" (the key above the "8" on the numeric keypad), which I preferred for the "Playback > Loop/unloop" function.

After deleting that shortcut, Shift 7 brings up the Fairlight page again with my Keyboard Customization layout. Stable ever since.

Does not work for me and I never had "num+/" assigned to anything.

So, did some further tests on my Workstation laptop with DVR 18.6.4 and trying to use SHIFT + 7 on the edit page to jump to the fairlight page with my German keyboard does not work at all.
I even checked if the keyboard customization had an error but it says SHIFT + 7 has been assigned.
So I deleted that and re-assigned the shortcut, but alas no difference.

After that I installed the English keyboard support in Windows and toggled the layout to US English.
Immediately SHIFT + 7 does work.
Change layout back to German and no dice.

Heres a link to a keyboard layouts page that shows exactly why these keys don't work on a German keyboard.
https://www.farah.cl/Keyboardery/A-Visu ... al-Layouts

The German keyboard moves the "&" (shift-7 on English keyboard) to shift-6.
It's the number key mapping that causes the issue and can be resolved by remapping the default shortcuts.
