My projects are showing blank clips and nothing in the playe

PostWed Aug 17, 2022 12:33 pm

I have updated to the latest release of Davinci Resolve 18.0.1 and all of my projects now have blank clips, nothing showing in the player and it won't play anything, not even the built in color bars etc.

Can anyone explain what is going on? I've reinstalled davinci, I've relinked the clips, I've made sure the GPU Configuration is correct, I've set davinci to 'High performance' in my graphics settings, I feel like I've exhausted every option and nothing has changed. This has happened with all my projects, even the ones before the update. Can anyone help?

If the native Color Bars won't work, that speaks to a system issue.

What OS and version?

What GPU and driver version?
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

If you are using a desktop computer, have you by any chance unplugged the monitor and then plugged it back into the computers' video out terminal instead of where it should be, your discrete GPU?

I haven't. My display cables have always been plugged into the GPU. I haven't made any adjustments to that before or after updating.

In the Resolve Help menu, select "Create Diagnostics Log on Desktop"

This will place a Resolve log file named similar to this on your Windows desktop: DaVinci-Resolve-logs-20181228_140434.zip (You may not see the .zip extension if your system is set to hide known extensions).

Then open Windows System Information and do a File - Save (Not a File Export), which will generate a .NFO file.

Place both those files on a file sharing site and provide links to the files here.

If you are a new Forum user, you may not be allowed to post URLs. If this happens, just put a space near the front of the URL, so the system doesn't think it's a URL.

First thing to try is to open Windows Device Manager, and in the Display adapters area, Disable the Virtual Desktop Monitor.

If that doesn't help, send another Resolve log and NFO file with that disabled.

Hi Dwaine, that seems to have fixed the issue. All my clips are loaded and the player is displaying the video. Thank you so much for your help. Can't believe it was just 1 thing I had to change

Thank you again!
