Focus timeline on selection

PostWed Aug 17, 2022 4:20 pm

Hi!

Is there a way to scroll the timeline to a selected clip? I have a clip selected and the timeline has been scrolled to a different location. Now I would like to automatically scroll to the selection using a shortcut or menu command. Is this possible in Resolve?

Thanks!

I can't think of one off hand.

Hit the Full Extent Zoom icon to see the entire timeline, then you can move the playhead.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

This issue is near and dear to my heart. I've posted about it and described how most other editing programs of all sorts - not just video editors - handle it. Hopefully Resolve will add this someday. Here are the posts:

You could use the shortcut for Play Around Current Selection to instantly bring the selected clip into timeline focus, would that work for you? Resolve default for that is the Forward Slash key [/].

That's an interesting workaround!
