Internal Camera Data exportable?

PostSun Sep 11, 2022 1:03 pm

Hey guys!

I have been doing a lot of Unreal compositing lately and saw how the BM cameras can now stabilize using the internal gyro information. It got me thinking, is it possible to export that data so I could
later import it as an FBX or something into unreal to recreate my camera shots? I know I'd have to find the initial position and what not in unreal but...is there a chance the metadata could be exported as a file with useable values to import?

Thanks.

Not being a developer, I'd say have a close look at GyroFlow version 1.2, which can now read BRAW with gyro data and has an option called "export project including gyro data". Maybe there's a way.
Now that the cat #19 is out of the bag, test it as much as you can and use the subforum.

Thank you! I will also look at that, although I am not great at using fusion. Do you happen to know if its actually the tracking data it exports from fusion or just a guess at tracking like if I was to use mocha or some camera tracking plugin? Thanks.

Check if this helps you- Note you need the Resolve Studio (the paid version for this)

I’m no expert in the field but doesn’t gyro data only express rotations? Gyroscope can’t measure acceleration so you can’t compute camera position from it, making it kind of useless for free moving camera. It could work for nodal pans I suppose…

What these devices have is called an IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) and these are capable of measuring both angular and linear acceleration.
'Gyroscope' is a popular expression for them, but not really correct, since that would be based on a rotating device like an artificial horizon in planes or directional devices on ships, which have been in use for more than a century.

As far as I can see, that’s image based, not on gyro data.
