Update from 18.0.1 to 18.0.3

PostThu Sep 15, 2022 11:54 pm

Is there a proper method or procedure to updating the DaVinci Resolve software. If I just launch the exe file on 18.0.3 what will happen to my current projects in 18.0.1? Not sure how to address this concern just yet. ANY help here would be appreciated.

Though not strictly necessary I always uninstall the previous version in Windows using the Control Panel/ Programs and Features page. On a MAC you can just install the new version over the previous one. Your current projects database will not be touched when doing either of these methods. It's always prudent though to export a copy of your database(s) before updating just in case.
I've never had any problems updating the Windows version this way having done it since version 14.

You can just run the 18.0.3 installer. Nothing will happen to your projects. I've been doing this since version 12.

That said, SOP in this business is to back things up before you upgrade/update.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

I download from the program and don't need to write in the serial number like I used to de.
