Dip to Color Transition Grading Issue

PostSat Sep 24, 2022 5:27 pm

Hi all!

So I have a cut from a client that has a dip to white transition in the cut. While everything looks great otherwise on the whole grade, when the dip to white transition happens it looks more like a color burn than a clean dip-to-white, if you know what I mean.

I suspect that all my other adjustments (contrast, hue, etc.) are acting differently as the transition happens.

With that in mind do you have any advice on how to deal with this kind of transitions so I have a cleaner dip-to-white?

Thanks!

why not add a white solid in a video layer above and use a classic dissolve?

That makes absolute sense, thanks!
I also asked for those clips without the transition. They'll add the transition on their master.

Thanks!
