BMD training files different than in training videos

PostMon Sep 26, 2022 4:41 pm

Hello all!

I am new to the forum and just purchased Davinci Resolve 18 Studio. I decided to start learning the software by using the free training videos on the website. I've completed the editing series and have no begun the fusion series-- during the course of these videos, I've noticed that several have imported files differently than the trainer in the accompanying video. So far it hasn't been an issue as I could delete what was in my timeline and go to the media pool and import the files they have. However, that seems to have changed on Fusion 17 Lessons part 3.

I'll attach screen shots as to what media I have imported vs what the trainer has available. I'm not sure what's going on, any help would be great! Thanks in advance!

It's merely that some of the training videos were made with version 17 and the video resources provided are newer. The operation of Resolve has changed little between versions.

Forgive me if I'm incorrect, but if there's little difference between version 17 and 18, why is there such a difference between the imports? The media is sorted in the media pool very differently in bins, and in the edit window as you can see, there's audio with the instructor's clip but none with mine. None of the clips are previewable the way they are with the instructor's either.
It seems like the file download is just different than it was supposed to be. Or are the versions THAT different?

Version 18 has some new tools added and other improvements. I will have a look at the downloads. I have never used the BMD training videos.

The assets the trainer is using are there in the Media Files folder.
In the pic I have not dragged them into the Media Pool.

Oh, you also imported the QuickStart.dra? I think that might be what I missed when importing. I saw that as an option to import, but that wasn't what the instructor said to import so I left it out. Thanks!

Thanks for your help! I'll try to restart my computer and re-download / import and check the media pool. I don't seem to have the same files you do from the download. It must be on my end if you're not having issues. Thanks for all your help man! Cheers :)
