Change Fairlight’s default processing order

PostMon Sep 26, 2022 11:14 pm

The default processing order (effects > dynamics > equaliser) is the opposite of what my training as a music producer has taught me.

My training taught me to EQ out any unwanted frequencies first, including rumble, dominant reflections, nasally tones etc. Only then can you compress that clean signal to get even levels (to prevent the compressor from biting on signals you will EQ out anyway). And finally you can add effects to your polished signal, like reverb, multi-band compressor, stereo imaging, final EQ, etc.

Is there a way to change the default processing order of channels in Fairlight?

Currently no default preference for DSP order available.

User definable Global Track Presets are available:
Fairlight menu > Presets Library
⟦ Mac Pro 7,1 Rack ⊕ 16-core 3.2GHz ⊕ 32GB RAM ⊕ Radeon 580X • Resolve Studio 19.0 • macOS 14.4.1 ⟧
⟦ Fairlight Studio Console ⊕ Fairlight Audio Accelerator ⊕ Merging Hapi • Anubis • Ravenna CoreAudio VAD ⟧
