sound / waveform problems

Dear friends,

After hours of trying out different solution strategies, I'm starting to get a little desperate. Urgent projects have to be processed, but a few errors have made working with DaVinci Resolve Studio very difficult for me.

The following problems occur:

Videoclips in my timeline just don't generate waveforms, some only partially, and others with no problem at all. Waveforms just appearing in clips after 20 seconds, shorter clips=no waveform.

The problem came with the latest Update of Windows 11

I've tried all of the solution approaches practiced here in the forum: reinstalling, new drivers, deleting the cache folder, placing the cache folder somewhere else, switching the timeline settings on and off... nothing helped.

I have a big project to finish this week and I'm stuck. I therefore ask for your help.

32 GB, 2 x 16 GB, DDR4, 2.933 MHz

I think your drive containing the media cache is full!
if you don't want to delete anything in the cache you can add a second location in DaVinci Resolve - Preferences Media Storage. A partition of my main drive containing the cache location only had 256MB left!!
Adding a second location on my boot partition solved the issue for me.

It's a known problem (there are many threads about it), it happens with some audio codecs if you have installed the 22H2 update of Windows 10 or 11
A temporary workaround is to nest the clips inside compound clips
