Video Denoising affects preview playback

PostMon Oct 03, 2022 6:43 pm

I did a Skype interview @ 4K and my output needs to be 1080. Because the interviewee is in low light, there is noise. I applied the DRS denoiser and that affected preview playback.

My hardware is as follows:

-Graphics Card: Nvidea RTX 2070

-CPU AMD Ryzen 7 3800X ( 8 core)

-32 Gigs of high speed RAM

-NVME

-Motu M2 audio card

Does that look like enough computing power to run an effect like denoising? Can anyone suggest a work around? Some advise that denoising will always be a resource intensive task so maybe that effect needs to be applied dead last...?

if you are running into performance issues with something like denoising, simply turn on render cache

Adding denoise last is a common approach. You don't often need it for actual editing.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Playback with option to show all frames. On your computer it will play in slow motion. Once you perfect your NR settings turn it off until render
