Micro Panel Lights up but cant be found on Studio 18

PostMon Oct 03, 2022 9:37 pm

I just updated to resolve 18 and now my Micro Panel wont work. Not sure what happened.

It lights up perfectly fine, I tried a few cables, I have it plugged up directly into the motherboard,

The only thing different is that i'm on windows 11 now.

I opened the panel setup program and it just doesnt see it.

If you open the DaVinci Control Panels app from outside of Resolve, does that app see the Micro panel?

If you open the Windows Device Manager, and look in the Sound, video and game controllers section, do you see Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve Panel Micro listed?

Hey Dwaine,

I've read through a few of these threads on this subject... sorry you keep getting bothered about this issue, but I noticed something here that matched the circumstances with my Micro:

- On a new PC running Windows 11 Version 10.0.22621 Build 22621
- New install of DaVinci Resolve Studio 18.0.4 Build 5
- Micro Panel is selected in Resolve, lights up, but is non-functional
- DaVinciPanelDaemon is running in the Task Manager
- DaVinci Control Panels Setup says "No DaVinci Control Panels Found"
- DaVinci Resolve Panel Micro does not appear in the "Sound, video and game controllers" section of the Device Manager, but is in "Other devices" with a warning sign on the icon
- Cannot update driver on the Micro through Device Manager ("Windows could not find drivers for your device")
- I believe I only have Microsoft Defender antivirus, which I've switched off in case it was a malware blocking issue, as cited in another thread

Any thoughts on this one?

Many thanks in advance for the assistance.

Have a look at this thread post:

viewtopic.php?f=21&t=148340&hilit=panel#p794586

In place of Speed Editor, substitute Micro Panel.

For the driver path, use:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Control Panels\DriverUsb\DaVinciPanels

Let me know how this works.

Thanks so much for this Dwaine!

In the days since I wrote, I actually deleted 18.0.4 and installed 18.0.1, where I was given the option to install the DaVinci Control Panels. Everything looked and worked perfect after that, including the Micro panel being properly listed in the Devices Manager area you suggest.

I'd like to upgrade back to 18.0.4 though, as it took care of a few other issues I was experiencing... I'm assuming either the fix from the 18.0.1 install will carry over, or I just have to implement your fix from that other thread, but let me know if you think there could be an issue there.

Thanks again for this!

I would not expect an issue from a scratch install of 18.0.4. So upgrading from 18.0.1 to 18.0.4 should not break it.

I have buy lastly Micro Panel for coloring. My Davinci Resolve Studio not react on him. Proper panel is set in system setup window. On this same setup Speed Editor work (but without Bluetooth)
My config:
Linux Debian 11
Davinci Resolve Studio 18.1.1 installed with makeresolvedeb 1.6.4, without issues.

Davinci Control Panels Setup starting only from system menu, not from menu in Davinci. It seeing Panel and showing in window; can doing reset. Firmware version 2.0 (newest).

System manager shows DaVinciPanelDaemon as running.

What I should make? Is any way to check, what is failed? On another installation - on Windows - this same Panel work properly.

It seems, as libpng12 problem, which is necessary for BMDPanelFirmware. Debian 11 has libpng16 installed.

./BMDPanelFirmware: error while loading shared libraries: libpng12.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

When I linked libpng12 lo libpng16:
ln -s /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libpng16.so.16 libpng12.so.0

running of panel return with this error:
./BMDPanelFirmware: /opt/resolve/bin/libpng12.so.0: version `PNG12_0' not found (required by /opt/resolve/bin/../libs/libQtGui.so.4)

But DaVinci Control Panels Setup runs from his own catalog with qt5, which don't make this error.

Conclusion: There is necessary to switch BMDPanelFirmware from qt4 to qt5.
