Version 17 project server from a distance

PostTue Oct 04, 2022 4:14 pm

Hi,

I work for a large production house that has a project server in LA and offices in CT which want to access the LA server projects. But when they do, I get complaints that the projects are very slow in CT (mouse lag, slow opens, etc). We are connected over an MPLS to LA. The projects work fine in LA off the server. Besides the obvious possible IT issue, is there some way to speed up the interaction with a cache of some kind or is there some kind of workaround that would allow you to work locally after opening the project and automatically save back to the server in LA?

A lot of moving parts but was just wondering if there is a known issue or idea available. Running 17 on the latest Mac Pros with plenty of RAM and processor available.

Thanks!

This is exactly the workflow that v18 was written for. The project library and how Resolve stores project metadata is optimized for a remote project library server, like the BMD cloud, but you can also use it with your own sever. But you all need to be on the same version of v18.
