Confusion regarding prices of Resolve Studio 18

PostSat Oct 22, 2022 8:15 am

So I have been using Davinci Resolve for a while and was amazed by it and wanted to buy the Studio version. I had a look at the price for Davinci Resolve Studio and it says 295 USD. I am currently living in Malaysia, so therefore that equals up to 1397.71 MYR (which was expensive, but not complaining about the price). But when I had a look at the checkout page, the subtotal reads 425 USD (which is almost double the price). And that isn't even including the VAT of 25 USD. That's when I noticed the subtotal for every country is different. So I am confused, why is the subtotal so different and why such a large margin from the promised price of 295 USD?

I believe the retail price for Resolve (and lots of other products) is different in different countries depending on exchange rates and specific added tax, like VAT. I don't think Blackmagic has any control over that. There are international dealers who will sell you the packaged software if you pay in (say) U.S. dollars, but then you have the delay and cost of shipping and so on.

The first one shows the price in $$. The second one shows it in $. USD is $ not $$. That just seems weird. Enough so I'd wonder about the page

On the price difference? Did Paypal offer you the option to pay in your local currency? They can tack on some pretty high exchange fees.

S$ 425 (Singapore Dollars) is approximately (US) $ 295 ... the price looks correct.

As Andy says, $$450 - that double $$ sign suggests that the currency is not in USD - would be nice to confirm that it really is in Singapore dollars.

same here in Germany..
375€ for Studio 18

if I choose USA as my country, only $295 (converted in € = 280,70€).
So I would pay ~ 100$ more.

And without taxes is it 315,13€ ($331,19) instead of $295.
Why?
