For special characters like that, I copy the character where it is displayed in another application (web, or notepad, or wherever) and then paste it into the Text object's inspector's text area in Resolve. Then make sure that the font you have selected can display the character. For example, for the m2, the PingFang TC or Songti TC fonts show it just fine.

I discovered how to do it. I opened the title in the fusion tab and positioned the number 2 there with Character Level Styling. :D

Here's how I would do it:

1. Open a web browser and search for "Unicode 2 superscript"

2. Click on the link to unicode-table.com

3. Verify that the web page is describing the character you want to insert.

4. Click on the "Copy" button

5. Switch to Resolve and put the cursor into the text input field where you want the "²" to appear

6. Press Ctrl+V to insert the character.

This is such a pain in the backside. It's absolutely a crippling bug that you can't just type accented characters normally in Resolve.

Imagine having to do that nonsense for roughly half the vowels you type for an hour-long video and you'll get some sense of why I'm currently really not enjoying the DR experience.

If you're typing that many characters then perhaps you should get a European keyboard (or keyboard designed for whatever language you're using)...?

For North American keyboards, on Windows you can use the Touch Keyboard as described here. This page describes some other options as well.

I'm using a European keyboard, but being multilingual it's a total pain in the bum having to switch layouts all the time, and the Gaelic layout is not particularly intuitive.

Surprising as it might seem, most people in the world speak at least two languages and often English is a second language. One of the more egregious bugs in Resolve is that the text entry boxes are a bit random as to whether or not they'll follow local language settings, and quite often they seem to expect everything to be US-ASCII whether you want it or not.

This works great, thanks Sean
