Fairlight does not currently include the Gate Clips function in Resolve.

There are existing requests for this function in the feature request forum:
viewtopic.php?f=33&t=160176

The manual approach varies dependent on whether Clips should ripple, maintain sync, and/or if Track reassigns are required.

If it's silent, why does it need to be deleted?

You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Hi Okie,

there's no built-in feature that I'm aware of to do that. That said, there are a few things you could try.

Just off the top of my head, you could set up the gate effect on each track and adjust settings to clamp down when the dialogue falls below the threshold level.

Or, you could use automation to simply automate mutes across each track. Especially if there are multiple tracks and the silence falls in the same places, you could enable multiple tracks and do them all at once. Make sure to enable "automation follows edits" in the Fairlight menu so if you move clips around the automation will move with them.

Hope this helps.

I have to say, "STRIP SILENCE" is a big feature for Pro Tools dialogue editors. And there's an easy way of adjusting the handles it gives each clip, and allows you to automatically do a quick fade-in and fade-out on each clip. I think this is a great feature suggestion for Fairlight.

Hi jim, that was a male voice. The silence too long. So i need to cut/delete that silence and bring uncut part closer to the other (ripple delete silent).

Hi marc, thanks. I think it is not strip silence. But detect > delete silent > ripple delete.
Detect the silent of male voice, then delete all of its silent then bring it closer (ripple delete)

Thanks Tlegvold.
I just need a software, that detect this silent of male voice, then ability to delete all detected silence, then bring it closer (ripple delete).

Do you want to remove the silence from a video or audio only?

For audio you can use Audacity which is free, you need to use the Effect -> Truncate Silence command

Ffmpeg has a silence detection filter that can log timecode of silence start and duration. You could then make a parsing app that could output an EDL using the timecode from the ffmpeg log.

Hmm, ffmpeg log => EDL sounds like a pretty straightforward text processing application. Famous last words, right?
Maybe I better go read the Conforming EDL Files section of the manual...

You can also remove silence automatically with Reaper and this program can also handle videofiles:

Yes, that is essentially identical to the Strip Silence command in Pro Tools.

It seems that this would only be useful in cleaning up voice over and other non-synchronous voice. In which case Audacity should fit the bill.
