No audio input for voiceover

PostThu Nov 24, 2022 5:04 am

I have read the manual, watched countless videos and read on the forums with no luck.

I am on macOS 10.15.7 and DR Studio 17.4.6
I have a Focusrite Scarlett 18i8 with a mic on input 1. mic works fine in logic and FCPX.

In Prefs > input device is set to Scarlett 18i8

on the VoiceOver audio track input I patched the 1:Scarlett to VoiceOver
I armed the VoiceOver track R button.
No levels show and no audio is recorded.
I have restarted. I have repeated the steps multiple times.

How do I get the audio input to work?

A request: Please simplify the audio input selection, get rid of patching, just select the input on the channel like ever other software. The patch window just adds complexity and confusion.

Confirm that Resolve is granted permission to access the device:
macOS System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Microphone

A request: Please simplify the audio input selection, get rid of patching, just select the input on the channel like ever other software. The patch window just adds complexity and confusion.
Resolve Preferences > User > Fairlight > Enable auto patching

Yes System Pref microphone permission for DR and checked on

Enable auto patching was not checked on, but I did turn it on and still no audio in.

Which device is defined as the default in AMS?
macOS Applications folder > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup

you set the bit rate and sample rate in Audio MIDI Setup for the different devices
there is no default.

you set the device input and output in the host application.

No change right clicking the device in the source list in AMS and selecting "Use this device for sound input"?

OMG, thank you, it worked!

I have never had to set my multi input audio device like that in AMS before for any other application.

Blackmagic need to fix this. This causes a lot of confusion and should not be necessary.
