Videos not Loading when Dragged into Davinci

Whenever I drag a video into Davinci, the thumbnail in the media pool and timeline (in every page) is just gray. It won't load and I'm not finding anybody else finding this issue. Neither video or sound will play. I've completely uninstalled Davinci several times, deleting the folder and erasing all traces of the program on my computer a couple times. Nothing is working. I really need help.

I'm afraid you need to give a few more details for people to be able to assist you. What OS? Windows / MacOS? What OS Version? What version of Resolve, free or studio? The free version does not support all codecs, so that could be a possible explanation. What format is the drive you import the footage from. eg. NTFS, exFat or APFS etc? What codec, resolution, container etc is the footage? What's the source, eg. what camera or otherwise?

Also an mkv file with normal 1080p 60fps video. It's a screen record. I haven't had any problems before though.

There's one of the files. Tell me if you need more or something else. Davinci won't work with mp4 or any other type of file so I'm fairly sure that the type of file doesn't matter.

Works fine in studio version. But looking at the mediainfo there's nothing in there that requires studio.
And just to confirm, it's not because the first 3 seconds are black in the video you have problems, right?

Also OBS can record in mov, does the same thing happen if you record to .mov?

Yes, the first three seconds are OBS switching to recording the game.

Also, all types of video file don't work in Davinci. (That OBS can record in.)

It works fine here in Studio, but I can also see no reason why it shouldn't work in the free version. Did you try importing in the Media tab instead of dragging?
If that also doesn't work, try to re-wrap it into .MOV, maybe that helps. It's fast and lossless.

MKV-container videos are not ideal for post (or Resolve) in general.

Yeah. I didn't realize the format until now. I changed the format in OBS to mp4.
