Number entry, click away needed

PostTue Nov 29, 2022 4:12 pm

This is gets annoying - I click a parameter, such as Colour Boost, and enter a number, then I hit enter but even though I've hit enter the number field remains active and I have to click away to continue working. Seems like a bug even though it's probably been like that for ages. I'm on 17.4.6 Windows at the moment, I think it's on all versions? Thanks.

What do you mean that you need to click away to continue working? Can you give me an example of something you would do after hitting <enter> that does not work because the text box has focus? Just curious to replicate on my MacBook. Thx.

I think what keeps tripping me up is that I think hitting enter will de-highlight the number box, so I should then be able to use it printer light hot keys for example but instead I'm entering crazy number into the original number entry box

I found a workaround, that while not optimal, will allow you to escape the data entry and enable printer lights use.

After entering the desired value, press the TAB key once instead of Enter to commit that value, and then continue to press TAB until the highlighted text entry field cycles through the handful of adjacent options, and then disappears for a number of presses, allowing printer lights to function. So just press TAB (or SHIFT+TAB) until the red box disappears.

It would be nice if the ESC key would just remove the focus.

Hope that helps!

Thanks - I think just grabbing the mouse and clicking the node graph once is the best workaround, a bit annoying and pressing Enter should work really.
