Color ramp not linear but step/staged

PostThu Dec 01, 2022 6:14 am

Hello not sure how to name this problem, but when adding glow effect through edit page im getting this none linear result. After rendering video the issue is more noticable.
How to get rid of this?

Looks like 8 bit banding.

You'll need good 10 bit footage and exports to get rid of it.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

This is the whole setup regarding the issue, to make the situation clear. This is just text and glow, which i put before the footage.

Here is the render of it

The banding only happens when adding glow effect, no matter if its plain text or footage itself.
What changes do i have to do in export settings to fix it?
In master settings the video bit depth is already 10 bit, if that was what you meant.

Sorry, I meant your export will have to be 10 bit. Try these settings...

Couple of those options in the export werent available. Like Encoder Auto, i only have NVidia or Native.
But just changing Encoding Profile from Main to Main10 does seem to work. Rendering my project right now.
Btw your Color Management settings just fix the banding in Davinci display?
Or do you recommend using those changes in general, because its standard and for best results?
Still working with default settings, because i dont know better... :?

The Color Management part is for HDR delivery. But you can deliver in Main10 with SDR as well.

The Auto option is found in the 18.1 version.
