how to tell when proxies are attached?

PostMon Dec 05, 2022 9:22 pm

I'm switching from Premiere to Resolve and trying to figure out Resolve's proxy workflow. I had already made proxy files from Adobe Media Encoder and I believe I've attached them to the files in my project, but I can't find a way to check on that. Premiere has a column that shows the proxy location, so is there something like that in Resolve?

Thanks for any help!

Yes - right-click on the header in the media pool (list view) and then add the proxy file path item to your list of enabled columns.

Also, if a proxy is connected to a clip, the clip will indicate this by a little badge in the lower left corner.

Thank you so much for that and for anticipating my next question!! I'm still trying to find my way around Resolve, but excited at the prospect of not being burdened by PPro for any number of reasons...

Glad I could help, Sam - Cheers

Add - I should also mention that the badge showing on the clip is only present when the proxy is actually displayed. If you select 'prefer camera originals' then the original source will be displayed (if available) and not the proxy and in this case, the badge is not present.

Thank you for that as well! I had not noticed those icons. I was looking for ones in the upper corners of the clips, which is silly but an old dog is slow to learn new tricks!
