Playback not working (only in Fairlight)

Hello, I've been trying to figure this out for the past week.

A few days ago Davinci Resolve worked perfectly. Then the playback just stopped working. When I click the spacebar, nothing happens. The only time it does play is when I'm in Fairlight, and that's only the audio. This happens on every project I create, not just a single one.

I've tried reinstalling Davinci Resolve, downgrading, unplugging USB devices, and anything I could find on the web but nothing is working.

My specs:

16GB Ram

GPU - RX 590

CPU - AMD Ryzen 5 5600X

Windows 10

Only using 1 monitor (if that matters)

Which version of Resolve? Was a Windows or GPU driver update installed recently?

What is the current configuration in:
Resolve Preferences > System > Video and Audio IO

DaVinci Resolve 18

I downloaded the newest AMD drivers ~ 2 weeks ago, but my project only started having problems a few days ago.

I attached an image showing my settings in 'Resolve Preferences > System > Video and Audio IO'

I have the same problem: Resolve 18.1.1 will not play video, although it will play the audio on the Fairlight page. The same computer and graphics driver will work fine with Resolve 16.

Here is the log for the failure in Resolve 18.1.1:
DaVinci-Resolve-logs-20221207-165259.zip
(119.28 KiB) Downloaded 24 times

I am using a Radeon VII gpu with AMD Software: PRO Edition
Revision Number
22.Q4
File Size
570 MB
Release Date
11/15/2022

Win10
32 GB memory

I would attach a Win.nfo file but it seems to be too large...
The info in my signature below should be updated to show the AMD video driver is now 11/15/22 and of course the Resolve version 18.1.1 is new.

Help?

... Continued from previous post: Here is a Dropbox link to my Windows info.txt, a Dxdiag.txt, and a copy of the Resolve log.

... and here are two screenshots from Resolve 18.1.1 Preferences.

I have been using the Studio versions of Resolve for some years.

I have seen similar reports of difficulty getting video to show on the timeline in the past, usually with AMD gpu s, but this is the first time I have experienced it. I tried all the prior advice I could find, to no avail. Because I have also already tried a variety of AMD driver versions with none working correctly with Resolve 18.1.1, I'm asking for help here.

Can you include a screengrab of the Windows audio device settings?

Any change deselecting “automatic speaker configuration” and manually selecting the preferred audio device?

Thanks. I just now tried your suggestion, but no change - still no video shown in Resolve 18.1.1 timeline.

Think I've found a possible problem.
When I go into the Fusion tab, there is no Media In/Out node. If I try to add one, Davinci Resolve crashes.

Any advice on what to do next?

Alex, I have the same symptoms as you. Sure enough, I get a crash if I try to do anything in the Fusion page, and I cannot get any video file to show video. My gpu is a Radeon VII, and I suspect an incompatibility between the AMD drivers and Resolve 18.

Wish we could get this fixed. There must be a lot of Resolve users struggling with their Radeon configurations right now.

After being unproductive for the past few weeks, Davinci Resolve has finally started working again randomly! Vamos!

I had the same problem, which went away once I "Toggle"d "Automation" to off.
