Stabilization

PostWed Dec 07, 2022 10:43 am

If any folk are feeling generous, could they point me in the direction of stabilising jittery film scans.

I have found the stabilising function via the inspector panel but have had limited success. There is apparently a method of zoning in upon the actual frame edge of the film image or the sprocket hole leading or trailing edge in the case of stable originating camera registration and using that edge to steady the film image very precisely.

So, if you can see the sprocket holes in the scan, use that as the target for an old-school point tracker.
Now that the cat #19 is out of the bag, test it as much as you can and use the subforum.

Uli Plank.

Thank you for your response. I have not been digging around in Resolve long enough to be old school although I am an old fool compared to most of the population. Where do I find the "point tracker" or is there a how-to video you can refer me to?

Cheers.

The Point Tracker is in Fusion. Here is a video that goes over its use. You can also search for fusion tracking on YouTube and find other videos.

It's in DR too, lower right in the tracker window, where you see 'Cloud Tracker'. Click it to change.

Xunile and Uli.

Thank you for those advices. I have not dared to stick my nose inside of Fusion yet. I am still learning to walk around inside of Resolve without falling over.
