18.1.1 Middle Click behaviour [fixed 18.1.2]

PostThu Dec 08, 2022 3:08 am

I've noticed now when middle clicking to copy a grade from one shot to another, it also makes the target shot go to the centre of the screen. It is a little bit disorienting and I don't remember it doing that before.

Is it intentional?

I hope this is a bug and not a feature!
It’s a deal breaker for us to move to V18 as long as this behavior continues.

Please revert back to the original method.

What do you mean by that?

I'm also having trouble understanding this. I gave it a try with Resolve Studio 18.1.1 and didn't notice any weird behaviour.

I think he means that if you middle click a shot from the clips panel to apply it’s color to you current clip the playhead moves to the clip you middle clicked on and you loose your current position in the timeline.

There is also a thread about it on liftgammagain.
I have to say I didn’t try it myself, we are still on V17 and these reports prevents us from upgrading to the latest version.

OK - I'm not seeing this behavior but I'm clicking clips in the clip view below the viewer - are those the clips you mean?

sorry I was not clear, here is how to replicate:

1) have clip mode in a strip below viewer (not Lightbox mode)

2) scroll across or select a shot so current shot is towards either side of the timeline (ie not in the middle).

3) middle click on another shot in the timeline to copy the grade to the current shot

- clip timeline autoscrolls to the current shot now in the middle of the screen horizontally. only noticed this since 18.1 (on 3x differnet Macs, using both mouse or Wacom pen)

- just makes me sometimes second guess if I have copied from the correct shot as the cursor is now over a different shot than what was clicked.

Please make this optional in preferences.
This is very distracting and complicates the use of the program, I use this option a lot every day for years and it is frustrating every time the thumbnails move.

I have not seen anything similar in any software and it is very annoying to be able to concentrate.

anyone else can confirm if this issue is fixed in 18.1.2 ? I am using 18.1.1 and my other workflow is stable, don't want to get into trouble of updating.
