Bug? Media Linking and Dropbox - Resolve 18 / Cloud

I'm having a strange bug across all our of our computers (4 editors local and remote) in Resolve 18 with Blackmagic Cloud.

Resolve is having trouble relinking media and I think it involves Dropbox. I think it has to do with Dropbox because in the file paths after making a change of source folder or link destination, it will introduce a Dropbox file path, even if the change was not pointing towards Dropbox. Also it duplicates the Dropbox file path multiple times in side the file path. Check out the screen shots, I definitely don't have a file path that is Dropbx/..../..../.../Dropbox/.../.../...

The only way we can get around it is changing the source folder randomly until Resolve decides to reset the filepath. Also, this seems to happen most often when we try to change source folder or relink more than 20 files at a time.. though its very random.. sometimes its 10, 5, 2, etc.

Anyone else experiencing this? We are all on the latest Resolve 18 and Mac Monterrey 12.6

Not entirely certain I follow, but make sure that NO ONE is using the files that are actually in the Dropbox folder.

ALWAYS move files out of Dropbox to a normal folder before using them in Resolve.

That goes for Databases/Libraries, Media, Cache, Proxies, .drp and .dra...pretty much everything. Never use the file from the Dropbox folder. That exists exclusively as a backup.

I should have mentioned we use the Resolve 18 cloud collaboration which includes working with Dropbox team. It's a different thing than you are talking about. Our collaboration is in Blackmagic Cloud, our source media files for remote editors are in Dropbox, and for local editors its on our network.

We are discovering something similar, but not in Dropbox but using Google Drive for our Blackmagic Cloud workflow.

We are on 18.1.2 and the problem persists on our Macs and Windows PCs.

In our case it is randomly impossible to change the file path for original media, no matter if it is on a local harddrive or on Google Drive. Sometimes it works to relocate the files, sometimes it won't and at the moment I have no idea for what reason.

Have you found a solution to your problem?

Having the exact issue here- trying to relink full resolution media via hard network (edited with proxies synced via dropbox/blackmagic cloud store) and now need to deliver. But I can't relink full res, and trying to change the source folder to the actual cloud store on the network doesn't work, just keeps going back to the Dropbox folder and only referencing the proxies.

Anyone have any solutions for this? Seems like a pretty major problem given that it's the entire point of the cloud storage products.

@ckilkus this is the only solution I've found, in this order:

(I have to repeat this for each bin separately)

Unlink Footage
Unlink Proxies
Remove all Path Maps (Project Settings > Path Mapping > Delete everything in window)
Relink full-res footage to Blackmagic Cloud Pod on network
Relink Proxies to proxy folders in Dropbox (no need to delete path maps again before this.)

Thank you! I was having the same problem. I'm using a remote workflow with Blackmagic Cloud with a remote editor. Each of us has a copy of the camera originals on a local drive, but proxies are stored on Dropbox. A few instances of clips in the media pool were linking incorrectly as camera originals to Dropbox proxies and I couldn't change them. I had tried all the options (Unlink selected clip, Unlink proxies, Change source folder, etc.). The problem even persisted when I deleted the clips from the media pool and then added them from the correct location as camera originals (dragging them in). They immediately linked back to Dropbox (treating the proxies as camera originals).

I did find that deleting instance of that specific directory from the Path Mapping worked for me. I did not have to delete ALL path mapping. Really appreciate the help.

This doesn't work for me, but I did find a solution that does. RENAMING the source folder. And then reconnecting, of course.

It's so ridiculous that these bugs persist after this feature has been shipping for two years. Beyond frustrated with this.
