Source Tape empty / broken on 18.1.2

PostSun Jan 08, 2023 11:39 am

Hello,

I've just upgraded to 18.1.2 (build 6) and started a new project. When I go to the Cut page and open the Source Tape, I see only a single black frame. Source Clip mode works as normal.

I tried hitting ESC a few times, restarted Resolve and my computer, but these had no effect.

Some details about my project - I'm using Tentacle Sync and the Track E recorder to sync audio and video using timecode, so my normal process is:
  1. Open Media tab
  2. Select all video clips and drag to media pool
  3. Allow Resolve to automatically choose the project frame rate
  4. Right click on all selected video clips and click Update timecode from audio track
  5. Select all audio clips and drag to media pool
  6. Select all audio and video clips, right click, and click Auto Sync Audio -> Based on Timecode
  7. Select all video clips, right click, and open Clip Attributes
  8. In the Audio tab, change the left source channel to Embedded Channel 2 (from the recorder)
  9. Open Cut page, select Source Tape mode, and cut with the Speed Editor

I'm pretty sure that this exact process worked fine on the previous version - although it's entirely possible I'm goofing something up with the audio handling.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Jim

What happens if you try Source Tape right after step 3?
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

I just tried it in a new project, and if I just do steps 1-3, the source tape page works as expected.

I then tried the rest of the steps, viewing the source tape page between each one, and of course it works fine in the new project :D

I will keep the broken project around in case anybody ever needs it for debugging purposes, but for now I will just use a new project and we can call this case closed.

Thanks!

I am strugling with this too... Mainly because the option update timecode from audio is not present when I rightclick the audio and video files in the media-tab.
Didit get removed or moved to another spot)
This happens in 18.1.2. build 6
