How to glue multiple clips

PostSun Jan 15, 2023 1:55 pm

Hi, I think it is easy, but did not find the solution:
a longer footage comes separated in several files and I want to glue them together as one clip (audio and video) to apply effects and corrections to just one clip.
I think, 'Render in place' is not the solution.
Thank you, horst

Try selecting them all, then right-click and choose create compound clip.

Depending on your workflow, you might want to try just adding a single adjustment clip on a track above all of the video clips you want affected. You can then apply adjustments (and most types of effects) to the adjustment clip, affecting all clips underneath. Benefit of this approach: the individual clips remain visible and modifiable, whereas you would need to decompose your compound clip in order to be able to make any changes within (and I'm not sure what happens to any adjustments/effects you made to it). Plus you can easily turn your effects on/off by disabling the adjustment clip.

You don't need to decompose a compound clip. You can just 'Open in timeline' to make changes to the underlying individual clips and then step back out (without affecting the effects made to the compound clip).

Thanks for the correction, Steve. Had completely forgotten about that.
