Is there a way to create timeline versions like in the Color Page or is my best bet just do duplicate the timeline and rename v2?

I love having the versions in the color page, I am working with a client who constantly says x is good but tweek these two thing and well revisions later they want to go back to the original edit.

Yep, for most people, versioning a timeline is as simple as making a copy... but if you're interested in exploring a more specific function for versioning individual clip instances, have a look at the 'Take Selector'. Chapter 42 in the manual.
