OFX, Blanking Fill. Not Working! on Rendered Clip?

PostFri Feb 03, 2023 11:27 am

Hello, firstly I did try and search this issue, but couldn't find anything directly related.

Note:
Davinci Resolve v18.1.3.
Project/timeline settings. 1920x1080
I'm working with CinemaDNG Raw, 4.6k video files.

ISSUE:
My OFX blanking fill isn't applied to my clip after I have rendered it ?
Note: I've applied OFX blanking fill to expand only the right side of the frame on this one clip only.

Here is the clip with the OFX added.

Then I "render in place"that one clip
With these settings.

And finally as you can see my rendered clip is missing the OFX blanking fill on the right side of my frame.

I'm sure there is a simple answer to this. Any help please, I would be greatful.
Thanks to all.

Still not resolved unfortunately, new update.
I just updated to the latest Davinci Resolve
18.1. 3. Studio version, But unfortunately the issue described in my original post, is still there.

Any help or guidance would be very much appreciated.

Thanks to all.

I'm not entirely sure if I understand it correctly as I can't reproduce the behavior on my end. Are you using "Blanking Fill" OFX in order to extend the footage to the right?
Why is the footage too small in the first place? Are you using Crop in the Edit or just Position?
Did you try using the OFX in Edit instead of Color? Did you try adding it to an Adjustment Clip on top (as a workaround)?

Sven, you asked me the perfect question.
Thank you. Thank you.

Basically I was applying the OFX Blanking fill
Whilst on the "Color" page, it works as a preview. But won't apply it when I render the file.
I should of been applying that OFX whilst on the "Edit" page.

I did that just now, and it worked.

Thank you.
I hope this helps others like me who are less experienced.

Warm regards

Interesting to see that it does not work if you do it in the Color Tab. But now I think I know why it does not work with Render In Place.
Render In Place uses source resolution I guess, right? So it crops back to the original resolution of the clip?

Sven, honestly, I'm not sure and I'm not knowledgeable enough to answer that.

Once again, thank you for your help.
