BCF200 No longer works in Resolve 18 Studio

PostFri Feb 03, 2023 7:53 pm

It used to work but hadn't used it for some time. Today I set bit up as I usually did in preferences for Mackie etc
and it is recognized as USB bit no Fader control etc.
I have tried it on another 3 NLE and it works so the Control surface is not faulty
Does anyone still use BCF2000 who can remind me (incase I am doing something wrong) how to get it going

If not any other control surface working with Fairlight

Try this post which I copied, let me know if that works-- I have one I never use and will probably move it:

These are the steps I went through to get a Behringer BFC2000 to work with Resolve

17.

Start up the BFC2000 unit into either HUI or Mackie Control. This requires you to

power on the unit while holding one of 2 buttons depending on the mode you

choose. See here https://www.sweetwater.com/sweetcare/ar ... t-are-the-
emulation-modes-on-my-behringer-b-control-bcf2000/# for a diagram.

In Resolve go to Preferences->Control Panels. Under Audio Console, check the box
that says "Use MIDI audio console"
Select Either HUI or MCU depending on first step.
For Midi Input select the BFC2000
For output also select the BFC2000. This is important if you want the faders to move.

I like the configuration of the HUI mode more then the MCU mode. The only major

difference between the two is what the two rows of buttons below the knobs do.

In HUI mode the buttons mute and solo
In MCU mode the buttons mute and select the track

The 4 buttons in the bottom right corner will rewind, stop, forward and play. The

knobs will adjust the pan. The faders will adjust the fade. Pressing the knobs has no

effect. The presets, encoder groups, and other buttons seem to do nothing.

Many Thanks for your reply.
Your reply woke up the memory bank in my head and although your reply was in fact the one I was using and typed up many moons ago I had left one step out.
This step was that whilst switching on the BCF2000 I had to hold the 2nd Button on top row to switch Mackie mode on.
I also pressed Exit on the BCF2000

The full instruction to use is now starting from both PC & BCF2000 off is:-
1 Do not connect BCF2000 via USB Disconnect it
2 Switch on BCF2000 Pressing Button 2 on top Row for Mackie Control Display will show nc
Press Exit on BCF2000
3 Start Windows
4 Re Connect BCF2000 and hear connection sound
5 Follow Resolve instructions to activate automation

All sliders will now work
Bottom 2 Buttons in lower Right will control Start/stop
Top 2 Buttons on lower Right will Control Fast Forward and Rewind
Push knob top row for appropriate to pan Left & Right

If it uses the Mackie HUI or MCU protocols it should work, but only in the Fairlight page. A lot depends on how much of the protocols have been implemented in Resolve.
This is what I see in Preferences/System/Control Panels with my Presonus Faderport.

Hey John,
My Icon Platform controller is working fine using the Mackie Control protocol.
All supported controls are working in Fairlight as usual (and the limited subset that work in the Edit page eg Faders, Pan, Mute and Solo are also working as usual).

I haven't used the BCF2000 with Resolve before but in trying to connect it to my M1 Mac via USB I had limited functionality only in HUI mode. The fader automation was not receiving feedback (fader would move screen but not vice versa).

I found that if I used S4 and MIDI connectors, instead of USB, I was able to have it function as expected. Faders are moving both ways. Basic buttons seem to function. I'm running BCF2000 via MIDI to MOTO MIcro Express USB to mac. Not perfect as my MOTU is old as hell and seems to create a new iteration if I unplug replug. But otherwise it is working.

John, is there an easy way to change banks on the BCF2000 up if you're running more than 8 tracks? I'm glad in general it's working better for you than me. But, at least on the mac the traditional MIDI method is working for me.
