Wrong detection of full vs video levels

PostFri Feb 03, 2023 11:00 pm

Hi! I noticed that AV1 decoding on DR studio 18.1.2 linux/windows gives washed out colors and wrong exposure
Example video:

When playing in VLC, this video is fine. When importing to DR, the problem shows up
Regards!

Re: Decoding AV1 gives wrong exposure/colors

Could it be a full range vs. video range issue?
No, an iGPU is not enough, and you can't use HEVC 10 bit 4:2:2 in the free version.

Studio 18.6.5, MacOS 13.6.5
MacBook M1 Pro, 16 GPU cores, 32 GB RAM and iPhone 15 Pro
Speed Editor, UltraStudio Monitor 3G, iMac 2017, eGPU

Switching to "video" data level sort of makes it better. still saturation is a bit off
Not happening with any other codec, only av1 gives me this problem
update:
The source file when i use mediainfo states:
Color range : Limited
But in DR, when set to auto it utilizes full range. So it's probably just bad detection
Colors might be slightly off because of VLC
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction ;)
