License Keys - Which one is active?

PostTue Feb 28, 2023 8:37 pm

Hi,

Where can I see which licence key I am using with my DaVinci/Fusion?
I have a number of them, maybe all of them installed over the years or just some of them.

I need to find out which of my licences is not being used so I can give it to a friend.

You have to keep track.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Or you need to deactivate all of them and then give just one card to him.

Yeah, I just checked and if you pulldown About DaVinci Resolve from the ABOUT menu, you should see the current license number being used. I would love to see that implemented, particularly in a room where we have multiple licenses being used.

Fair enough - like the way a credit card number is presented in your online shopping profile.

This is not possible. Many of the machines no longer exist.

Nope. No number is shown up.

Marc was suggesting what should happen (as a feature request), not what is.

What about trying to install the key from one card on two separate machines?
The ones existing no more would be deactivated then. After that, de-activate them in those machines you tried and hand the card over.

All this is really strange. Every software shows the running license in the about window. I have bought so many BMD products and lost track of the licenses used. A neat option to manage them would be great.

If you are giving the license to a friend the license conditions mean they have full access to both activations for that key.

So it doesn’t matter what key you give them. If you have that key activated on a non existing computer the key will automatically reset the two licenses if it’s over subscribed.

If one of your systems becomes deactivated, then u know you were using that key and you can just use one of the others you have, with the same auto reset if that key was for a now non existing computer.

Note. You should not keep auto resetting the activations as the anti piracy action is triggered if there are too many resets in a short period of time. To avoid the multiple day lockout this initiates, use the help menu to deactivate when you still have the computer hardware and want to move the activation.

I have a related question. I am trying to deactivate a computer, but when I go to the help menu I do not see deactivate account. Has anyone seen this before?
