Wrong file length in import

PostWed Mar 29, 2023 4:18 pm

Hello everyone. First post here, thanks in advance for your help.
I imported a file to trim it and Resolve's timeline is showing the wrong file length.
The actual file is 1:30:54.20 according to VLC, Vegas Pro, etc.
Resolve is showing 1:30:49:09 (actually 2:30:49:09 because of timecode starting at 1 hour)
The file is 23.976 fps which is also how the timeline frame rate and playback rate is set.
Here is the video info from the program MediaInfo:
English, 1 061 Mb/s, 1920*1080 (16:9), at 23.976 (24000/1001) FPS, YUV (AJA Video Systems Xena)

I also have a second version of the video which is showing the same length:
167 Mb/s 1920*1080 (16:9), at 23.976 (24000/101) FPS, ProRes (Version 0) (422 HQ)

My guess is that this problem is due to the drop/non drop frame setting being wrong but that option is grayed out in the timeline frame rate settings. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Is that recording in a constant frame rate?

Nothing is wrong. VLC is showing time and Resolve is showing timecode. Time and timecode won't match when you're using fractional frame rates. Read more about it here: https://forum.blackmagicdesign.com/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=175315&p=920798#p920416

Vegas should display the exact same length (if you configure it as SMPTE timecode display).
