Studio Edition Requesting Activation Key After Crash

PostSat Apr 01, 2023 3:55 am

So Resolve crashed on me for the umpteenth billionth time but when I went to restart it I was asked for my activation key. Here's the thing: I've already reinstalled both Resolve and Fusion Studio editions as a recommended fix for the extremely slow speeds, numerous daily crashes and infinite hangs requiring me to force quit. It didn't work and so I went ahead and did a clean install of my OS. New install of the apps and that time I was warned I only had one more use left for my activation key. That was two weeks ago, and now I had a crash and apparently I need to use my key for the last time. Brilliant, I'm in the process of building a PC optimized for VFX (within my limited means) for which I will now be unable to install the VFX software for which it is specifically meant to operate.

I bought this enormous keyboard so I could get the studio versions of Resolve and Fusion, and I've spent more time using it to type out requests for assistance ion getting the software to work like it is purportedly supposed to. So now do I use the activation key so I can at least keep working (see: troubleshooting) for the time being? Or do I wait to find out whether or not I'm not going to be held financially responsible for the absurd instability of this otherwise brilliant suite of software?

And how do users upload their crash logs if "the extension log is not allowed," anyway?

Don’t fear. You can install your key again, it’ll only deactivate your second activation (if any) and even that can be activated again.
How to make logs available is described in detail in the FAQs.

Are you sure? Because I was once told that about some very expensive Boris FX software and that was definitely not the case.

Oh no doubt, considering even the studio versions of their software is so inexpensive. But I trusted you (you do have over 17,000 posts over ten years, after all) and that was not a mistake because the activation does indeed still work, so thank you for that.
