How To Add Music Note Symbol In Captions?

PostThu Apr 27, 2023 6:33 pm

Does anybody know how to get DeVinci Resolve to *export* the music note symbol in subtitles? I import an SRT file (UTF-8) and the notes display correctly. But when I go to the Deliver page, tick 'Export Subtitles', and choose 'Format: As embedded captions' and 'Codec: CEA-608' the symbols will not export into the final Quicktime.

So, if I have "[♪♪♪]" (no quotes) in my SRT, it will display correctly. However, on export it was appear as "[]". However, if I have no brackets and the symbol as a bookend, for example, "♪ This is a sample lyric ♪" it will freeze the app completely and I'll have to crash out.

Curiously, the music symbols will under the 'Codec: Text option'.

If anyone knows how to remedy this, it would be greatly appreciated. Even Blackmagic tech didn't know. (Please don't link me to that page about special symbols, it doesn't actually address this issue).

Thanks.
