DR Studio 18 Freezes when opening Fusion | Linux

PostFri May 19, 2023 1:30 pm

[SOLVED]
Reinstalled linux from scratch (formatting the whole disk and re-created the partitions -> external drive to transfer the files)

Hello,

I've been using Resolve for a project, everything worked fine up until [i don't know what].

Now each time i open Davinci i have all of this hapenning in this order :
 • Please update cache location for this project, current location is offline or not reachable //Cacheclip
 • Please update capture location for this project, current location is offline or not reachable //Capture
 • The GPU failed to perform image processing because of an error. Eror Code : 999

Also, each time i click on "Fusion" tab, DR freezes, and don't respond until I kill it inside htop (9 - SIGKILL).

Before i have all those problems I was able to go inside Fusion and everything worked perfectly fine...

I've tried to restore all the settings to default, i reinstaleld DR, i've updated and downgrade all the nvidia drivers for linux, i've tried to downgrade to DR 17.3... But nothing worked...

I've seen people uploading log files on their post but i don't really know how to do it, i've tried to search a post that explain how to ask for support but i couldn't find it back unfortunately...

Is there anything i can do ? (I can work o nwindows for now but i prefer o stay on Linux because it is where i have everything, all the files, all the habits etc...)

The FAQs above describe how to generate logs and how to post a link to them.

Hello,

Thank you for the link, i thought i was making a mistake because it said "create log on the Desktop" and nothing appearred...

So for those who are wondering here is the Filepath : ~/.local/share/DaVinciResolve/logs/

I've noticed that the error 999 (The GPU failed to perform image processing because of an error. Eror Code : 999) were not hapening when i launch DR using right click > LAUNCH WITH NVIDIA GRAPHIC CARD.

But even when using this mode Fusion still makes DR crash.

I've thought it would be a good idea to create a logfile for both scenarios (one in "normal" mode, one in "NVIDIA" mode).

1. Here is Fusion crashing in "normal" mode :
log_archive_20230522-120227.tgz
Normal mode
(124.77 KiB) Downloaded 74 times

2. Here is Fusion crashing in "LAUNCH WITH NVIDIA GRAPHIC CARD" mode :
log_archive_20230522-120439.tgz
NVIDIA mode
(124.8 KiB) Downloaded 81 times

Config :

Linux mint 21.1 vanessa | Kernel 5.15.0-72-lowlatency

NVIDIA Driver 530.41.03-0ubuntu0.22.04.2
All the specs on my signature are up to date.

Let me know if i can do anything else or provide any other usefull information :)

Hey,

Does anyone knows what's happening ?

As everything was working right is it that i might have touched something wrong ?

I've tried to uninstall reinstall ResolveStudio in every ways possible (just going by the menu, "hard" uninstall it with terminal, go inside Installation folder and delete files by hand) but i still can't use fusion as everything crashes...

Does anyone have anything ?

Hello

Reinstalling Mint have solved the problem.

I've hard erased everything and redid my mint install from scratch (/ + home + swap partitions).

Even if it's stressfull and the last thing you would want to do, it solved the problem for me and might even solve other problem for you (clean install is a bliss).

It's also an opportunity to finally clean all those files you promised to yourself you'd take the time to organise one day

I'm having the same issue but with DR 18.6 on a MacBook Pro 17.7.10.

I'm scanned the forum but without success for a Mac-friendly fix.
Any suggestions or pointings in the right direction would be incredibly appreciated.

Thank you,

Michael

We need a Resolve diagnostics log.

If you are not using the Apple App Store version of Resolve, this is how to generate a diagnostics log when Resolve won't start:

Open Finder and navigate to the /Library/Application Support/Blackmagic Design/DaVinci Resolve folder and double left click the CaptureLogs app. It will create a log.tgz file on your Desktop.

If you you say "but there is no CaptureLogs app there" then you are in the /Users/user_name/Library folder and not the root level /Library folder.
