Why would anyone consider an 8GB card for Resolve these days?

I'm only editing UHD footage and I see my GPU (RTX3060/12) regularly hovering above 11GB.

Anyone building a system for Resolve that they want to last more than a year or so would be well advised to shoot for 12GB minimum and preferably at least 16GB (unless they're only working in HD source/export resolutions).

What we can learn from this reviews is the performance and its price.

I have seen rumors of a 16 GB version coming to July. I expect the performance to be the same.

Yes, but a 4060Ti at US$500 is not what I'd call good value. In fact, I believe the RTX3060/12 is far better value at almost half the price.

Remember that the 4060 has less bus bandwidth than even the 3060 so in a video editor application this *will* hurt. The higher cache will help in games but not likely in NLE applications.

RTX 3060 12GB:
Samsung Process Size 8 nm
FP32 (float) 12.74 TFLOPS

The coming RTX 4060 Ti 16 GB:
TSMC Process Size 5 nm
FP32 (float) 19.47 TFLOPS
$499

RTX 4070 12 GB:
Process Size 5 nm
FP32 (float) 29.15 TFLOPS

Resolve do all its Image processing in RGB fp32. So a good way to estemate its performane, is to look at the FP32 (float) TFLOPS. I can't se any improvement pr $ with the RTX 4060 Ti 16 GB, but I see an another option for a Resolve Graphics card.

And the RTX 4060 Ti 16 GB will be more energy efficient than the the RTX 3060 12GB, due to its change from the old Samsung 8 nm process node, which actually is just an improved 10 nm process node.

But let's wait for some Resolve benchmarks, and also see the coming AMD Reviews.

Anyone thinking of buying a 4060Ti should hold off (IMHO) because I expect that after the awful reviews this card has got, dealers will have a lot of trouble shifting them. This could lead to some significant discounts within a few short months.

I expect the Nvidea RTX 4060 Ti to be the 8 GB version
as the graph is longer, than for the Nvidea RTX 3060 12 GB?

We have to wait to July for the 16 GB version. Then I am sure, we will se the opposite.

They are render times in H.264 and H.265, the shorter the time the better,3060 is faster than the 4060ti. When you scroll down, it shows AV1 encodes with 4070 being much faster

Unfortunately I"m not sure where those graphs are from, I was taking some screen shots as I was watching the reviews. Maybe LInus Tech tips or Gamers Nexus.
