Weird color shift during grading

PostMon Jun 05, 2023 2:59 pm

Hi, I am grading some footage through a power grade and noticed some color shifts in blocks. I've turned off any node but I cant seem to locate where the fault is. Maybe with the color management?

Anyone has an idea how to fix this?

That's called banding and it's usually caused by limited bit depth, like 8 bit recording, or by massive compression.
Now that the cat #19 is out of the bag, test it as much as you can and use the subforum.

Hi, thank you for your answer. The recording was done by FX3: XAVC S-I HD with10-bit 4:2:2 sampling thats what i believe to be the highest in de FX3 range.

Could it be something else?

Can you post a sample to a cloud service?

import the clip into a blank new project, go to color and increase the contrast a bunch, also boost saturation quite a but. If you see those blocks there aswell, you can be sure that it's in the file.

color management can play a role, but in this case I suppose it's due to video compression and a really strong grade

Are you using Free or Studio, Wonseok?
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.
