Media offline as soon as I import in resolve 18

PostWed Jun 07, 2023 5:42 pm

Hi, I am using Macbook Intel version OS Ventura 13.4. and Resolve 18. All of sudden all of my XAVC S4K which is 422 10bit is showing media offline as soon as I import into resolve. Its not link issue. New videos or old video none of them are showing video. However sound is there. Seems like Resolve is not able to decode/encode the 422 10bit video anymore. only 8 bit are working. Not sure if its related to Mac OS update which I did last week.
Please help with the advice on this issue.
Thanks

Free or Studio? Works fine here in Studio.
No, an iGPU is not enough, and you can't use HEVC 10 bit 4:2:2 in the free version.

For 10 bit 4:2:2 you'll need Studio (or transcoding).

I also have this issue.

- occurred ONCE
- local mp4 files (no NAS, etc) sporadically go offline
- mp4 files are ALSO open in iMovie, for reading, in an iMovie project that was simultaneously in the process of exporting
- "media offline" appears when I am scrubbing in Resolve
- playing the "offline" clip does play audio, only video is impacted
- quit and restart temporarily fixes the error, however the error returns, showing the 'offline' message for the main preview area and not on the source media clips this time, when I attempt a Quick Export. Export also fails, with a "timeout" and pressing "Cancel" does not cancel the export...'remaining' time grows into 50+ hours for trivial 29 minute video.

16GB RAM
OS 13.4

But the OP suggested that this is new behavior, Uli - as if the macOS update created a problem. Sounds fishy, doesn't it?

For me, iMovie is not even letting me import the file. When I try to import, it grayed out the 10bit 422 h264 file. I opened a case with Apple and they suggest to reinstall the OS. Because they said as per the documentation h264 422 10bit is supported in iMovie. If reinstalling OS does not help then they will forward my case to OS engineers and they will get the logs and reports from my system.

The irony is, same files are working fine on iPad. Resolve recognizing the video as it should be. No issues at all. On iPad even videos thumbnails are visible in file browser. But here on MacBook OS, even thumbnails are not visible in the finder.

Isn’t the iPad one a Studio version?
