Resolve Studio 18 on Linux vs MPEG-4 AAC - no sound

Hello, I just purchased Studio version to support MP4 files in Linux but I am disappointed. MP4 videos work well, audio track is created but there is no sound like silent audio track.
Smartphones, GoPro, DJI, all these devices record with MPEG-4 AAC audio codecs in MP4 container. Your software is not applicable to regular video files. I don't want to convert the files.
Will version 18.5 help with decode AAC?
Do I need to set it up in any special way in settings?
Resolve Studio: 18.1.4 build 9
OS: Ubuntu 20.04
G-Force GTX 1650

No

You can quickly have FFMPEG just transcode the audio the PCM and not mess with the video.

FYI I have created a feature request to add error message for this issue to notify other users this is expected behavior.
Please go add your support on the feature request.

it's just lame there is no AAC support on linux.....
Why can't BM be transparent on this, how much is the licensing?
Every single consumer device uses AAC and it's a PAIN in the AXX when you have a ton of .mp4 files and you have to strip out the audio and convert the container for upload to youtube..
just a freaking joke. otherwise the Linux verison is top notch and I would be able to just use Linux but no I have to use windows 11 and all it's spyware glory.
Sure there is less linux desktop users but those that like linux and could use it can't because of the whole stupid AAC issue, so I and probably many others who would use a Linux desktop for Resolve don't because of the AAC fiasco.

How about a petition to get them to add AAC instead of a lame error message......

I don't use Linux personally. But I can't argue your point.
If they can't economically fit the AAC license cost into a $300 studio key, offer an add on key for just it at a reasonable cost.
Surely there is no technical reason they can't support AAC.
