Remote Monitoring times out before connecting

Whenever I try to connect to a remote session with the ipad app it says "Please wait... The host will let you join shortly."

Then the Remote Monitor window in Resolve says I am connected, but the session never opens on the iPad. The iPad shows an Error and says "Connection Timed Out."

It was working in the 18.5 Beta but now that I am using the fully released version it no longer works.

+1 I'm having the same issues. Connection always times out on:
-Mac to iPad
-PC to PC

But connection works fine on:
PC to PC (through VPN)
Mac to iPhone

I have the exact same issue.

for the Mac to iPhone you mention, is that with both the Mac and iPhone on the same network (or via VPN) or is that over the internet?

I emailed Blackmagic about it since 18.5 beta and 18.5 release, 18.5.1 and 18.6 seems to all have the same issue for me. I was directed by email support to find networking help in the forums... wasn't' very helpful unfortunately. I either think it is not a networking problem or there is special network configurations that need to be made to make this work but I have found no instructions/documentation on that anywhere with regard to using the Remote Monitor feature. And if it does exist, would love to be directed to where that info can be found.

I guess for starters, my bigger question now is: Is this Remote Monitor App meant to work only when the host resolve system and the remote monitor app are on the same network (either physically or via VPN or similar) or can it also work over the internet? I am realizing I haven't seen a clear answer of where/when the app should work.

For context, I am able to get it to work when everything is on the same local network. As soon as I move the iPad/iPhone with the remote app off that network, like a client who is at thier home or on set, i get that exact behavior you describe of once the host lets you in, it gets stuck there until the timeout.
I have tried using Mac and Linux as the host and have tired iPhone and iPad as the device running the Remote Monitoring app. I have tried with the host from my office (which does have some restrictive rules) as well as host from my home which is as simple as a network can be. They all fail to connect and time out.

I have the same issue, first "Please wait... The host will let you join shortly". But no option on the Resolve end to let someone join. and after 30 seconds or so, "Error, connection timed out"

Trying to connect from PC to iPad, same network.

Sooo.. a feature that just doesn't work?

I'm getting "Error, connection timed out", too. Trying to connect PC -> iPhone. Tried both devices in the same network as well as via VPN do not work.

Same here, insanely annoying, couldn't do the session with the client and no information to be found...

I also am having the same issue, have tested WIN to WIN, MAC to Win and WIN to MAC, works perfectly on the local network but not when trying to access remotely, Switched of VPN and Firewall with no change, Still searching for a solutution, surely remote montering should work remotely, maybe they should change the name to local monitoring
