CST, timeline colorsoace and colorspace aware tools Resolve

PostTue Aug 15, 2023 11:25 am

In "DaVinci YRGB" i set my Timeline colorspace to "DaVinci WG/Intermediate" and the output Rec 709 2.4.

IMy first node is my CST with correct input depending on camera and output colorspace and gamma to "timrline".
In the next nodes i do my grade with hdr-wheels (colorspace aware, right?) and at the end i have my CST from "Timeline" to Rec709.

If i change the CST´s to DaVinci BG and Intermediate i get different results. Should "Timeline" not be "DaVinci WG/Intermediat"? Why is that? Am i missing something? And if i had to live with that fact (bug or feature) what setting would be best?

Any suggestions?

Use Timeline, for whatever reason, doesn't apply the forward OOTF. If you select Use Timeline then click Forward OOTF the results are identical to entering the colorspace/gamma manually in the CST. Seems like a bug but it's easy enough to workaround once you know it's there.

Good Luck

Forward or inverse OOTF shouldn't be enabled when converting from one scene space to the other. Neither should you use tone mapping which is enabled by default.
