1. Create a new timeline and uncheck the "Use Project Settings" checkbox. 2. In the format tab set the resolution the same as the source clips. 3. Go to the output tab, uncheck the "Use Timeline Settings for Output Scaling" and set the output resolution to a vertical resolution.

Thanks for the suggestion! Sadly no it didn't work, it just cuts it off at the top and bottom this way
