DaVinci Remote Monitor colors are washed out

PostThu Sep 07, 2023 10:00 am

The setup :
2 MacBook Pros (2019 and M1) and one iMac, no external monitor.
The 3 have "Use Mac display color profiles for viewers" enabled but I tested disabled too.
All with original ICC profiles.

If I open the same project in the 3 machines (Project server), the colors are mostly exactly the same.
However, if I use DaVinci Remote monitor, the contrast is significantly lower with a W/B towards blue.

 A very important note is that I can open the project and Remote Monitor on the same machine, so it is very easy to see the difference. (not a screen problem)

Surprisingly, only using the MBP 2019 as a host and the MBP M1 with Remote monitor reproduce the exact same colors as in the Resolve project. (I have of course no idea why)

So this makes the problem really bizarre, like if Remote Monitor have a mind of his own for colors.
Is there any kind of setting to adjust and get the same result as Resolve in Remote monitor?

Thank you for your time!

Little update with Resolve 18.6
It is half fixed in the way that the MacBook Pros are now showing the same colors in DaVinci Remote monitor. (Same as the project itself)

The iMac is still with this low contrast almost LOG look in Remote Monitor.
But if I open the network project in the same machine, the colors are normal.

Info :
iMac Retina 5k, 27 Inch, 2017
Radeon Pro 580

I do understand it is a niche problem, but this feedback could help to tweak Remote Monitor ;)

I just found this thread after searching for a solution myself. I have a client with a slightly older iMac and he shared his screen with me, and the davinci remote monitor is clearly WAY off, exactly as the OP described (washed out, almost LOG).

I haven't found any other discussions or potential solutions to this issue, but I did want to mention the OP is not the only one experiencing this problem.
