Sky replacement problem

PostThu Sep 07, 2023 4:00 pm

Hi!

I've been following a lot of tutorials online and even though I do exactly as instructed, all the footage I use as the replacement sky looks horribly overexposed and yellow. The actual footage looks proper so not sure what I should do differently?

Im using Resolve color management and all footage is BRAW gen 5. Please see the screenshot, on the left is what I see when trying to use Sky replacement and on the right what the actual cloud material looks like.

Any advice would be much appreciated!

Sami

What exactly are you doing? Which tutorial are you following and at which step does the sky turn yellow?

Hi!

Here's one tutorial I've used to try to do the sky replacement:

Everything works as expected, expect that the sky footage I've placed to replace the original sky with turns into this weird over exposed look.

I go to the color tab, place a Sky replacement effect on a node and remove the original sky. Then I place the replacement sky clip into the node tree and connect the green dot to the clip I want the sky replaced in.

Here's a screenshot of my node tree.

I have the same problem Sami. Did you ever figure it out? I know it has something to do with Color management, but I do not want to change those settings. I'm trying to replace sky with a still image, sRGB and the colors are completely out of whack! I've tried all of the Source Sky color settings but I have not been able to find the answer. Any luck on your end?

That looks like a color management issue or something related to HDR/SDR.

Hi everyone, it might be something very simple, but I can't figure it out.
I replaced the sky in a shot, but when I go back to the editing page and take a freeze frame of that shot, my sky disappears. Can someone help me solve this, please? Thanks!
