Multitrack editing - how to ripple delete empty space?

Hello everyone!

When starting any (simpler) edit, I dump all my footage into a timeline, scrub and trim there. I never use the Source monitor and Insert/Overwrite workflow as I find the former approach much quicker.

However, I see editors using multiple tracks, both video and audio so I'm giving that method a shot. My V1 holds master shot angle while I push all the insert shots to V2.

The issue I now have is switching between these tracks and ripple deleting empty spaces which are left after trimming and moving various clips. I edit almost exclusively using keyboard shortcuts so I was wondering: if there are any tips on how to be more effective here?

Q: How would I select/delete the red empty space on V1 but only between green lines?

For anyone else wondering the same issue, I found the solution:

- using arrow keys, move the playhead to the end of the clip in V2;
- hit Shift + V to select the underlying gap (WHOLE gap will be selected, meaning, whole area marked in red on my image);
- hit any shortcut you have mapped to "Trim end to playhead" (in my case it's W);

Voila!

I just mark in and out and Shift-Delete.
