Camera app import into resolve - color transform

PostTue Oct 03, 2023 1:42 am

Importing footage into Davinci, I'm trying to get the color space transform setup correctly. I understand the color space setting, whether its P3-D65, Rec.709, or Rec.2020, but what do I set the gamma input and output?

The auto selection should take care of both settings.. is it not?

By auto selection do you mean selecting "Automatic color management" in project settings?

So for example, if I record in Rec.2020 I would select Color Managed > Automatic color management > Mode as HDR > output as Rec.709.

Or should I use ACEScct with input Rec.2020 and output as Rec.709. I know this really depends on workflow, but there is so many options its kind of overwhelming.

Iphone 13 pro btw, I think I forgot to mention that.

Here is where I get confused.

RCM, if I read it correctly, sets input color space to 2100/2100 HLG

Quicktime Movie Inspector reports 2020/2100HLG

This when camera app is set to 2020
Resolve 18.6.5
Sonoma 14.4
M2 Ultra
