DaVinci Resolve won't open

Hello, I've recently installed and reinstalled DaVinci Resolve, and it won't open currently, upon my first time installing it, I went through the beginning setup thing, clicked "Adobe Premiere Pro", got an error (I don't remember what it was), and now it just simply refuses to open no matter how many times I reinstall it, no matter how many times I clean the files, any ideas on what I should do? Thanks
SPECS:

Uninstall, disconnect all peripherals but mouse and keyboard, and try again.
If it still doesn't work and, as you mention, Premiere threw an error, that shouldn't have anything to do with DR. So, your whole system might be screwed up and it could be time for a fresh install of Windows (yes, it's a PITA). Your hardware should be OK to run DR.

Well it worked until it failed again. This time I selected "DaVinci Resolve" in the quick setup, and it threw the same error, or I think it's the same error;
"Assertion Failed
Program C:\ProgramData\BlackMagic Design\Davinci Resolve\Support\Onboarding\DaVinci Resolve Welcome.exe
File: UiResolveOnboardingIPC.cpp, line 124
Expression: p_Socket && (p_Socket -> state()==
QLocalSocket::ConnectedState)"
I've also never had Premiere Pro installed on my system, not a fan of Adobe's subscription-only business model...
I should probably also mention that I also disconnected my other screens while attempting this

Hi there
A quick search gave me this.
Take a peek and see if it might help you.

Here are the necessary files, all bundled into one single zip folder, I don't have an nvaki folder, so the linked solution isn't going to work for me, unfortunately.

From Adrenalin to Pro? Not quite sure if that's a good idea. If you mean like the version, I have the most up-to-date version, which version do you recommend I change to? Might be worth a shot.
Also, I await the day that DaVinci Resolve just magically starts working without any input, that'd be pretty funny

It's been a couple of months since I made my last reply, is Dwaine available, by chance? I'd love to get DVR to work, would hate to have to find alternatives, or worse, pay for software such as Sony Vegas

The Resolve GPU detect is crashing with an OpenCL.dll crash.
First thing I see is that according to the NFO, you have displays connected to both the RX580 card and the onboard graphics port. All displays need to be on the RX580 card. So try that first as a simple attempt at a fix.
If that doesn't work, open Windows Device Manager and select Display Adapters, then right click the Intel UHD Graphics 630 adapter and select Disable device.
Now see if Resolve will launch.

Strange, I connected all my displays to the card, must be a ghost display, I just went ahead and disabled the onboard GPU (Might do so through the UEFI settings as well, I have little to no use for it given my card's capabilities), and DaVinci Resolve opens, but I guess my GPU is unsupported (Could be because I'm using an older version, because thanks AMD, their drivers cause my system to fail when using Chromium-based programs, such as Google Chrome, and the tuning doesn't save either...) Will consider updating
Thanks a ton, Sir Dwaine

Thanks Petter for decrypting the mystery link.
@Ivo: Also need a Windows System Information .NFO file.
Open the Windows System Information app and select its File - Save menu to create the .NFO file.
Don't make the link to that file as tricky as your first link. Just leave a space near the front of the URL. Don't delete characters.

Also please make sure there is an .NFO file.

Being you're on a Mac, no NFO file.
Looks like it might be a VST plugin issue. So simple things first:
In Finder, navigate to the /Library/Audio folder and rename the Plug-Ins folder to Plug-Ins.tmp
That will prevent Resolve from loading the audio plugins. Does that help?

OK, next we'll move the current Resolve Preferences folder, which will cause it to create a new preferences folder with default settings. This will mean only the default Local Project Library called Local Database will be visible, assuming Resolve launches. If Resolve does launch, then we'll try re-attaching your other Project Libraries and see what happens.
In Finder, go to this folder:
/Users/m3040/Library/Preferences/Blackmagic Design
Note that /Users/m3040/Library is a hidden folder. You'll need to enable Finder to show hidden files/folders by doing a simultaneous keypress of these 3 keys: <COMMAND> and <SHIFT> and <.> (period).
Once you are at the /Users/m3040/Library/Preferences/Blackmagic Design folder, rename the DaVinci Resolve folder to DaVinci Resolve.orig
Now try to launch Resolve. Does it launch?

In the good launch logs, the next things that happen after the place it's now crashing, is that it ID's the DeckLink hardware, and then this:
Class ResizeWindow is implemented in both /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST/Waves StudioRack for OBS.vst/Contents/MacOS/Waves StudioRack for OBS (0x10a7e9800) and /Library/Application Support/Waves/Modules/InnerProcessDictionary.dylib (0x10484b568). One of the two will be used. Which one is undefined.
I doubt that the DeckLink card is causing the issue, but if in doubt, wouldn't hurt to remove it, just to see.
Seems more likely to be the Waves thing. Assuming you've left the /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins folder renamed to /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins.tmp, then perhaps the Waves thing in the /Library/Application Support/Waves/Modules path is causing an issue. I'm not as sure what it would take to stop that. I don't know if renaming the folder will prevent Resolve from seeing it or not. But you could try renaming the Waves or the Modules folder with a .tmp extension and see what that does.

I made sure all the suggested folders were renamed. Still no good.
I opened up the computer, removed the DeckLink card, cleaned the Bus connection, reseated the card.
It works.
The only folder I've changed back so far is Preferences/Blackmagic Design/DaVinci Resolve.

Resolve has been working fine until this morning. I renamed the Preferences folder as before but still no go.

Noticed one thing - The Neat Video plugin, only supports Resolve 18.5 according to NV's documentation.

If you look in System Settings - Network, then select Details for your active internet network device, then select Proxies, do you have anything enabled there? If you do, can you turn that off and see if it affects the Resolve startup issue?

The next thing that happens in the good logs, that's not happening in the crash logs, is that it detects the DeckLink card. So seems like there still might be an issue with that.
I'd recommend removing the DeckLink card again, and see if Resolve will launch.
Might be worth going back to Desktop Video 12.7. To do that, I'd recommend in Finder going to the Applications/Blackmagic Desktop Video folder, and running the "Uninstall Desktop Video.app" app. Then download and install Desktop Video 12.7.
Starting in Desktop Video 12.7.1 and up to 12.8.1, we've added support for the DeckLink IP based cards. Maybe something about that is behaving badly in your system.

The most recent log is from 3-21 and was a successful launch and close of Resolve. There are no log indications of failed launch attempts after that. Which seems odd.
We always need a Windows System Information .NFO file to help with troubleshooting on Windows.
Open the Windows System Information app, and select its File - Save menu. That will save a .NFO file with the Windows info. Send us that.

@Aphiwe:
Your config.dat file is bad. You have a good backup copy.
Open File Explorer Options, and on the View tab, enable "Show hidden files, folders and drives".
Also unselect "Hide extensions for known file types".
Then in File Explorer, navigate to this folder:
C:\Users\crest\AppData\Roaming\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Preferences
Delete the config.dat file.
Right click the config.dat.bak file and select Copy.
Now select the Paste menu. That should make a new file called config.dat - Copy.bak
Rename that file to config.dat
Now Resolve should start.
If Resolve still doesn't start, send a new Resolve log file.

@Hans:
If Resolve eventually opens, select the Resolve Help menu and create a diagnostics log.
If you are on Windows, also open the Windows System Information app and select: File - Save to create a .NFO file with your system info.
Put both files on a file sharing site and provide a link here. Make sure the link does not require access credentials.
If you are a new Forum user, it may not allow you to post a URL. If that happens, put a space near the front of the URL so the Forum system doesn't see it as a URL.

On 4-25, Resolve 19 was running and exited successfully at 12:46.
Then at 16:27, when Resolve was launched, the startup issue started happening.
Do you recall what was changed on the system on 4-25 between 12:46 and 16:27?
The issue appears to be Fusion related. Did you add any third party OFX plugins or Fusion templates?

HI @Dwaine
I am also facing the same problem.
I installed 19 beta1 sometime back. Tried with the new features. After a gap to couple of days, when I tried to open resolve it fails to launch. The task manager did show the process for couple of minutes before releasing it.
I tried to install 19 beta 2. Same problem.

Last time it was working, you had NVIDIA driver 536.99 installed.
In all the crash logs, you have NVIDIA driver 552.22 installed.
So that's a bit suspicious. But perhaps you updated the driver after the crashing started, to see if that would help?
If not, could you go back to the 536.99 driver and see if that helps?

OK, I think the issue is that you have Proxies configured on your network settings.
Open the Windows Network and Internet control panel and select Proxy.
Do you have Manual Proxy Setup "Use a proxy server" enabled? If so, that's causing the Resolve startup crash.
My only solution at the moment is to not enable a proxy server. Or, use Resolve 18.6.4.

Hi
I have a similar issue, would it be possible to work with a socks proxy or is it totally disable proxies. Some environments require proxies which can be authorized by specific IP to access and don't want anyone having access to their systems.
