Adding/editing markers on the Color page?

PostWed Nov 01, 2023 6:17 pm

OK, this is a small thing that's been driving me crazy: I could have sworn that I used to be able to create and edit a marker on the Color page, but somehow I am no longer able to. Every time a client asks for something that I want to make a note of for later, I'm forced to go over to the edit page. Am I missing something? Are other colorists struggling with this?

Yes, I have the same observation, and also I am not able to navigate between markers on the color page (once I’ve created them on the edit page.) I think this started in 18.*

I find that by tapping the M key I can create a marker in the color page, but it's a timeline marker. I was expecting to create a clip marker. Also, SHIFT + up/down arrows navigate between markers.

I find that it is unpredictable which kind of marker will be created when using the key command on the Color page. I usually want a timeline marker, but often get a clip marker, but either way, I am not able to edit the marker's content on the Color page, making them much less useful.

I went to check and found out that I was in fact able to create (timeline) markers from the color page.

I then tried to navigate between them with the Shift up and down arrows on the color page, but it didn't work, nothing happened.

I went to the edit page and navigated between the markers, and then when I went back to the color page, the navigation keys worked there, too.

So it seems to be a little erratic. I also think that last time I tried this, I was on 18.1.4, and now I'm on 18.5.1, so it may have changed.

SOLVED: You have to have the Timeline visible on the Color page to be able to edit a marker. I usually work with it hidden, which is why it wasn't working for me. I think it should work without the timeline being visible!

maybe you already solved it but for future ppl stumble upon this problem hit Ctrl+M in color page to add a clip marker, M for timeline marker
