Color grade not applying to entire clip

Strange issue: I am just starting a new project in DVR 18.6. Just put a full, unedited clip of an entire interview into the timeline. Shot on BMPCC 6K, in BRAW. I applied a grade from another project that uses the same interview setup, just as a starting point. But when I review the clip--again, unedited--it has graded everything except the first 10 seconds and 22 frames. I push play from the beginning and it just looks like log footage for those first frames and then suddenly the grading snaps on. I went back, then, and thought maybe I'll redo the grade. But it happened again! What's going on? Can it possibly be that the BRAW file is somehow perfectly fine EXCEPT that the first 10 seconds are impervious to color grading? Is there a fix?

Thanks for any ideas.

Best guess is that something changed in those first 10 seconds of the shoot. ISO, Aperture, something. And it's that change you're seeing under the grade.

If you shot it correctly, you won't need those first 10 seconds though, yes?

Thanks for the idea, Jim. That is a good guess, I think. But it's not an ISO shift or some minor camera tweak. (I was the only camera operator, using the BM app to control my BMPCC 6K.) The section of the clip that's problematic is ungraded; there's no change from turning the nodes on and off on the problem frames, but once it hits the part where the grade is working, it's like a bang of color, which you can see clearly by enabling/disabling the nodes on frames where it's work.

As an experiment, I started a whole new project. Used a whole different clip. And it happened AGAIN!!

So check me on my process, just in case I've done something obviously wrong.
1) To copy the grade over to these new projects, I took a still from a project where I was happy with the grade. (Again, same setting and lighting, so it should be a good starting place to tweak the other clips taken later.)

2) I exported the still from the initial project and then imported the still to the color page gallery in the new projects. I selected the clip to grade in the new projects, and control-clicked and chose "Apply grade."

It worked like a charm on a project yesterday, but suddenly now I've got teflon frames for the first part of the clips. I'm stumped.

Thanks for any ideas.

This same thing happened to me and it was because there is a video transition effect added to the beginning of the clip where i exported the stills from.

I removed the transition from the source video, exported the stills again and used it on my other clip and it worked.

I hope that helps
