Invalid version format: ‘3.4

Two years ago I installed DaVinci Resolve Studio 17.0 on my Windows 10 64-bit computer. Since then I installed every update upto and including version 18.6.3. All version worked correctly. This month I tried to install the 18.6.4 update. This installation halted after unpacking and shortly after the actual install process started.
A small window is displayed saying: “ invalid version format: ‘3.4 “.

After restarting the computer I repeated the install process a few times to observe what actually happened. The result was the same every time.

I downloaded the zip-file again from the website and tried to install with this fresh download, but the result was still the same: a small window shows up saying: “ invalid version format: ‘3.4 “.

Can anyone tell me what I’m doing wrong?

did you try to uninstall the older resolve first?

(backup the database!!)

Try disabling firewalls, dns and ad blockers and see if that helps.

Usually the update version automatically starts with uninstalling the previous version.
However, following the replies I uninstalled version 18.6.3 from the Windows Programs and Features list manually.
It didn't help.

I also tried uninstalling with Revo Uninstaller Pro (latest version) which was a great help on many other occasions. Unfortunately not this time.

I also tried disabling firewalls, dns and ad blockers, but that turned out not to be the solution neither.

Finally I replaced the Windows system disk by recovering a system back-up from the time that version 18.6.2 was current. Then again I tried updating version 18.6.2 to DaVinci Resolve Studio version 18.6.4.
This finally did the trick!

Now of course I'm curious how the system would respond when version 18.6.5 is being issued.

I am having this issue after a failed downgrade from the Resolve 20 beta back to version 19.1.4.
Windows 11. Backed up 19 databases. Uninstalled 20 beta. Reboot and install 19.1.4 as admin.

Error pops up on install: "Invalid version format: '2.3.0.0"
What do you think here?

In my attempts to troubleshoot the installation of 19.1.4, I have turned off firewall/ransomware protection/anti-virus. Yes, I did extract the .zip & run the installation as an administrator (for both 19 and 20). Completed a repair install/in-place upgrade of Windows 11.

Any insight into the issue would be very helpful.
